
Special Needs Teacher Needed - Brisbane
We are seeking an experienced Special Needs Teacher for a small, unique school located in Brisbane's Southside. This role will be a full time, continuing position. You will be required to teach a class of up to 6 students with Autism between the ages of 15-17 years.
Selection Criteria:
- Suitable Secondary teaching qualifications, with a specialisation in Special Needs or Special Education;
- Current Qld teaching registration;
- Minimum 4 years teaching experience;
- Demonstrated experience working with students with Autism, highly desirable;
- Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken;
- Highly organised
- Ability to work with people at all levels
Role description
- Work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team to plan, deliver and review individualised curriculum for students in their senior phase of learning
- Facilitate and oversee the construction of assessment tasks, marking rubrics and quality assurance processes for secondary school subjects (using the QCAA School Portal as required)
- Facilitate diagnostic assessment, data collection and management, and tracking of progress for secondary school students
- Source and support suitable work experience placements and complete associated administrative requirements in collaboration with key stakeholders
- Maintain accurate records of communication regarding student needs and programs
- Supervise class Teacher Aide(s) allocating appropriate tasks relating to the teaching and learning program
This is a wonderful opportunity to work in a very specific field of Special Needs. We are seeking candidates who are dynamic, passionate Teachers and who have a very genuine interest in working with students with Autism. Previous experience working with students with Autism is highly desired.
