Students are diverse in their backgrounds with about 50% being indigenous, and 50% from nearby farms and stations as well as the children of the townspeople.The school is run very efficiently and positively with an ethos of achievement, community involvement, and reward for endeavour. Expectations of students are high with many supports in place for students to succeed and enjoy their success. The school is very well-resourced and has lovely grounds.The community is accessible by road all year round. It comprises a roadhouse, police station, petrol station, cafe, restaurant, pub and general store. The town is a tourist destination for visitors to nearby natural hot springs.
