You will form part of a close and focused team of educators lead by a dynamic and supportive principal within an innovative and highly supportive regional team of educational advisors.The School and CommunityThe school’s enrollment is about 55 kids (all indigenous) with variable attendance but overall, a fairly high rate. The school is divided into three classes – early years, primary and secondary. The school currently has three staff including a teaching Principal, although the school has been growing so there may be four teachers for the start of 2021.The community has between 50-300 people at a given time. It is harmonious and stable and the community is proud of its school and has respect for the teachers.The school has strong language and cultural programmes and is a training ground for other schools in the region. The aim of the school is to support literacy in both the local language and English.The school’s Principal has been in the role for 15 years and is extremely supportive of his staff. He is hands-on and keen to develop teachers into the best they can be, and he encourages them to enjoy their remote experience.LocationThe community is located 325km west of Alice Springs in stunning country. The school is located at the base of Mt Leibig, the second largest mountain in NT. There are no mines or stations in this area of traditional land ownership. It’s 170kms off the tourist track and is surrounded by sacred sites as well as areas that are accessible including water holes and natural springs.
