It’s a wonderful group of kids according to the Principal, and they need a dedicated teacher who will create clear boundaries and have high expectations of behaviour and achievement.This is a role where you will gain lots of experience and responsibility within a short time. You will form part of a close and focused team of educators lead by a dynamic and supportive principal within an innovative and highly supportive regional team of educational advisors.The schoolThe school currently has 50 students enrolled and offers educational services from T-9. All students self-identify as Indigenous. Attendance is variable with an average of 40 students coming in on a daily basis. The school is run very efficiently and positively by the Principal who has created an ethos of achievement, community involvement, and reward for endeavour. Expectations of students are high with many supports in place for students to succeed and enjoy their success.Accommodation is provided in the nearby town of Yulara, which is 20kms away. Teachers must have their own car to travel to school each day.Community and locationThe school is located 480kms SW of Alice Springs within the boundaries of the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park at the base of Uluru. The community population is approximately 300 and the main language spoken is Pitjantjatjara.The community is accessible by road all year round. There is a general store, football oval, health and community agencies, a large aged care facility and a church. The community footy team is the Mutitjulu Cats.The school is located about 20kms from Yulara, a tourist resort town owned by the Indigenous Land Corporation and has a supermarket, post office, cafes and restaurants as well as extensive accommodation.
