The position oversees a dual role by coordinating and implementing quality early learning and parenting support using the Early Years Learning Framework and the Abecedarian Approach Australia (3a) to meet the needs of children birth to 5 years old and their families in the community.Context statementThe FaFT-SPL/Child Care Centre program is a quality early childhood development and family support program for families with children prior to school entry (birth-5 years). The Child Care Centre Co-ordinator/FaFT-SPL Family Educator works in the centre with the local Aboriginal Educators and families to develop and deliver a program to promote optimal child development and family engagement in early learning that is respectful of Aboriginal parenting and cultural issues.The Child Care Centre is adjacent to the school.  A strong cultural and working relationship exists between the school and the centre with a co-commitment towards sharing resources, values and love of learning. There is opportunity for the coordinator to build on the existing program creating a vibrant, inclusive and high-quality centre meeting the needs of families in the Barunga Community.Essential Selection CriteriaExperience as a childcare coordinator including knowledge of Family Assistance Law, child-care subsidy administration, using PRODA, 3rd party software and completing government reporting.Early Childhood qualification and/or demonstrated relevant experience in early childhood education and ability to deliver high quality early childhood programs.Proven ability to develop critical relationships with families and community partners and schools for successful implementation of responsive place-based programs and demonstrated sound judgement.Demonstrated skills in adopting new pedagogical approachesKnowledge and understanding of Aboriginal societies and cultures and the impact of issues affecting the early learning and development of young Aboriginal children.An ability to interact effectively with people from diverse cultures.Registration with the Teacher Registration Board of the Northern Territory (TRB).
