The school uses Read Write Inc differentiated groups across the school with the Teaching Principal for 1 hour, five times a week.There is one session (3 hours of classroom planning release) given by the Teaching Principal who will do Art/Cultural classes.Planning and assessment using the Australian Curriculum, the NT ESL/EALD framework, LANE curriculum and Early Years NT framework.This is a role where you will gain lots of experience and responsibility within a short time. You will form part of a close and focused team of educators lead by a supportive teaching principal within an organised regional team of educational advisors.The schoolThe school is only small with a Teaching Principal who teaches the Year 4-8 class and some specialist subjects. The school currently has 30 students with about 15 in each class. There is also a playgroup and pre-school operating in the community which supports children prior to entry into Transition.It’s a close-knit team and we are seeking the right person to join it.In a typical year, the kinds of activities organised for the students include music workshops, Questacon Science Circus incursion, annual sports day, Open Learning days where students share work and progress with their families, a school disco for good behaviour, class sleepovers, horse-riding lessons and excursions to a nearby community that has a pool.Location and communityThe community is small with less than 100 members and is located on the Roper Highway (part of the Roper River region) in between two rivers and 320km SE of Katherine, which is the nearest urban centre. There is 30kms of dirt at the end to get in.There are a number of artists resident, with a language and culture programme. There’s great fishing and it’s about 25kms to Ngukurr where there is a strong indigenous art scene. Views from Ngukurr are amazing back into escarpment country.This is a great location for a new teacher going remote for the first time.  The community is very small, relaxed and the people are very welcoming. There are no issues with violence, gambling or drinking so it’s very safe for a female (with cultural restrictions of course).
